A Beginner’s Guide to Peptide Reconstitution
Proper reconstitution is essential for maintaining the integrity of lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides. This guide covers the basics of safely preparing your research compounds for use.
What You’ll Need
- Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water)
- Sterile syringes (1ml insulin syringes recommended)
- Alcohol swabs
- Your lyophilised peptide vial
Step-by-Step Process
- Clean the vial tops — Swab both the BAC water vial and peptide vial with alcohol swabs
- Draw BAC water — Using a sterile syringe, draw your desired amount of bacteriostatic water
- Add water to peptide vial — Inject slowly down the side of the vial, allowing it to drip gently onto the powder
- Allow to dissolve — Let the vial sit for 5-10 minutes. Do NOT shake — gently swirl if needed
- Store correctly — Reconstituted peptides should be refrigerated at 2-8°C
