Research Applications
Kisspeptin-10 is widely investigated in reproductive endocrinology research as a master regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Research has established its role in potently stimulating GnRH release from hypothalamic neurons, driving pulsatile LH and FSH secretion from the anterior pituitary. Studies have explored its applications in hypogonadism, hypothalamic amenorrhoea, polycystic ovary syndrome, and male infertility research. Research has also examined kisspeptin-10’s role in mediating the effects of metabolic status and energy balance on reproductive function, as well as its interactions with sex steroid feedback mechanisms and pubertal timing.
