Research Applications
PT-141 is investigated in melanocortin system and neuroendocrine research for its central MC3R and MC4R agonist activity. Research has characterised its effects on hypothalamic regions involved in the regulation of sexual behaviour and arousal, with studies exploring the melanocortin system as a central mediator of sexual function in both male and female models. Beyond sexual function research, PT-141 has been studied as a pharmacological tool for investigating melanocortin receptor roles in energy homeostasis, inflammation, and autonomic nervous system regulation. Its central mechanism of action and receptor selectivity profile make it a valuable compound in melanocortin receptor pharmacology.
